A Thankful Cowboy

I’m Thankful for a good horse on to sit

A well made headstall and a sweet iron bit

The creak of a saddle

The sound of hooves a quishin’

All the while I’m a wishin’

For warmer weather

And an easy herd to gather

The zip of the burner,

the slack coming out,

When Roping a yearling that’s gone walkabout

I’m a cowboy ever day of the year,

Snow, wind, or rain

I go,  no time for fear,

Them critters have to gain

No worry about my aches and pain,

Cows get fed without fail

Even the day of the sale

It’s the cowboy way,

Countin, feedin, puttin out the hay

Yes I’m thankful for holidays, family and food

But I ain’t a city dude

That little orphan calf made me smile,

He wags his tail when drinkin’ his milk

With hair as fine as silk

My horse nickered when I scooped his feed

He’s a pretty good using friendly type of a steed

I fed the dog, cat and chickens

It’s getting cold as the dickens

I’m a Shepard herdin sheep

Like in the Bible  I watch o’r my flock by night

I’m just a cowboy,

tryin to do them critters right

The sun’s a settin low

I’m hurryin go, go, go

Save me some turkey and dressing

And Pray for me,

if I miss the blessing

Happy Thanksgiving ever one

I’ll be in when the feedin’s done
