November 2025 marks 25 years since Oklahomans voted to create the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET). With that historic vote in 2000, and another confirmation vote in 2020, the people of Oklahoma ensured the majority of settlement funds from the tobacco industry would be used to improve health across the state — a bold, forward-looking decision that continues to pay off today.

Since its creation, TSET has tackled some of Oklahoma’s biggest health challenges. The Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline and Tobacco Stops With Me help Oklahomans reduce tobacco use. Programs like Shape Your Future promote healthy eating and physical activity in schools and communities. TSET grants support local health initiativesbuilt environment improvements and large-scale projects like the TSET Legacy Grants , which aim to reduce cancer and cardiovascular disease. Recent efforts include mobile lung cancer screenings and community programs that expand access to care statewide.

This 25th anniversary is a celebration of a visionary decision by the people of Oklahoma and the partnerships, programs, and progress that have followed. Thanks to their vote, TSET continues to build a healthier future for all Oklahomans.
