Alton Ray Washburn, Jr. of Wister, Oklahoma was born November 13, 1945 in Merkel, Texas to Alton Ray Washburn, Sr. and LaVurne (Bagby) Washburn, and passed away September 14, 2019 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 73.

Jason Lowrimore and wife Melissa of Panama, Oklahoma
Alston Washburn and friend Kaitlyn of Wister, Oklahoma
Allie Washburn of Wister, Oklahoma

Five great-grandchildren:
Karlie and Rylee Dickerson, Levi and Eli Lowrimore and Khyleigh Borden

Three Sisters:
Frances Hill and mate Archie of Madison, Tennessee
Mary Alsup of Iowa Park, Texas
Stella Campbell and husband Dennis of Iowa Park, Texas

Three brother-in-laws:
J.D. Ollar and wife Joan of Norman, Oklahoma
M.C. Ollar and wife Sue of Glendale, Oklahoma
Cecil Ollar and Diana of Glendale, Oklahoma

Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; Alton Sr. and LaVurne Wasburn; his in-laws, James and Opal Ollar. Alton was a lifelong resident of Wister and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church for 40 years where he also served as a deacon for 33 years, and retired from ODOT where he worked for 33 years.

 

He worked for Ollar and Ollar Construction for 3 years, CED Construction for 6 years and was a member of Wister Public School Board for 7 years. Alton served our country for 4 years in the Navy during the Vietnam era and was 100% disabled Veteran.

 

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister, Oklahoma with Reverend Clyde Steelman, Jr., Brother M.C. Ollar and Son-in-law Dale Lowrimore, officiating.

 

Interment will follow in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

 

Pallbearers will be:
Michael Ollar, Ian McKinney, Tony Smith, Chase Martin, Dennis Shoup, and John Paul McAlester

 

Honorary pallbearers will be:
Bill Bullard, Ike Caudell, Harold Gibson, Jess Akins and Jerry Harmon
