Anna “Bell” Jean Johnson, 83, of Monroe, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Anna dedicated most of her life to working beside her husband, George Johnson, in the family-owned grocery store, Johnson Grocery. She retired from the family business and moved Howe to raise chickens she then became a CNA and worked for Heavener Nursing Home for 17 years. Anna left Heavener Nursing Home to care for her ailing sister-in-law until her own health declined and could no longer work. Anna’s passion was taking care of people. Anna loved spending time with her sisters, she loved watching her grandchildren play ball she also loved playing practical jokes on them at Christmas time. Anna will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her devoted husband, George Johnson, her parents, Henry and Velma Collins and loving sister, Janice Shafer.
Anna is survived by her children, George Johnson Jr. of Wister, Oklahoma, Tammy Donathan and Joe of Wister, Oklahoma and Rodney and Angie Johnson of Monroe, Oklahoma, her five cherished grandchildren, Heath Donathan, Hilari Rogers, Jace Johnson, Whitney Carter and Hunter Johnson, her ten great grandchildren, Tige Rogers, Tate Rogers, Kelby Donathan, Kylie Donathan, Ryker Smith-Akers, Maelea Johnson, Luna Leon, Rilynn Johnson, Oaklee Leon and Tripp Carter.
The Celebration of Life Services for Anna will be held 11am – Thursday, October 2, 2025, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma with Brother Paul Brady officiating. The Family of Anna Johnson will greet friends at the conclusion of her service, also in The Cedars. Burial will be at Ellis Chapel Church in Wister, Oklahoma.
