Betty Elizabeth Vanhook of Howe, Oklahoma was born May 2, 1938 in Wister, Oklahoma to Burt and Edith (Green) Ford and passed away October 9, 2018 in Poteau, Oklahoma at the age of 80.

 

She is survived by:

Three daughters:
Tammy Vanhook of Spiro, Oklahoma
Betty Sue Ruiz of Heavener, Oklahoma
Romona Rust of Poteau, Oklahoma

One son:
Bill Vanhook and wife Carla of Red Oak, Oklahoma

One sister:
Bonnie Brown of Poteau, Oklahoma

Four brothers:
Jerry Ford and wife Dorothy of Poteau, Oklahoma
Sam Ford of Wister, Oklahoma
Charley Ford and wife Rosemary of Sallisaw, Oklahoma
Dennis Ford of Wister, Oklahoma

10 grandchildren

15 great-grandchildren

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burt and Edith (Green) Ford; one sister, Faye Rockman; and four brothers, Don, Denver, Kenneth, and David Ford.

 

Betty was a life-long resident of the area and was a homemaker.

 

She was also a. member of the Church of God Seventh Day in Wister, Oklahoma. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, working in her flower gardens, and collecting antiques.

 

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Seventh Day Church of God in Wister, Oklahoma with Elder Lamar Ford officiating.

 

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
