Calvin spent over 30 years working in the oil fields as a skilled crane operator, a career he deeply loved and where he built livelong friendships that he cherished like family. He was a proud member of Covenant Church in Poteau, Oklahoma, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sharon Edwards, and his children: daughters Christina Edwards, Nancy Nelson Semin and husband Adam, and Yalanda Edwards and husband Dinky, all of Eunice, Louisiana; son Calvin Edwards, Jr. and wife Erica of Eunice, Louisiana; stepson Greg Kerr and wife Amber of Muldrow, Oklahoma; and stepdaughters Teila Reynolds and husband James and Cara Lujan, both of Poteau, Oklahoma.
He is also survived by his sister, Carrie Marie Edwards of Eunice, Louisiana, and brothers Keith Edwards and Paul Edwards, both of Eunice, Louisiana. Calvin’s legacy lives on through his 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.
Calvin was preceded in death by his father Russell Edwards, Sr.; his mother Laura Mae Steven; bothers Michael Wayne Edwards Sr., Russell Edwards, Jr., and Roy Edwards, and his daughter, Shalene Edwards.
Known for his huge personality and comic spirit, Calvin brought joy and laughter to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a way of making people feel special and loved. and his vibrant presence will be deeply missed by all.
A celebration of Calvin’s life will be held graveside at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Oakland Cemetery with ????? officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
