Memorial Service for Cathy Janet Scroggins, 54 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be at 6:00pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Evans Chapel of Memories with Roy Scroggins under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Cathy was born on July 20, 1968 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Janice (Monks) Scroggins and Jimmy Don Scroggins and passed away on July 6, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Scroggins Laymon, and niece Summer Rose VanMeter.
Cathy grew up in Shady Point, Oklahoma. She attended school in Shady Point before graduating from Panama High School. She went on to attend college at Carl Albert State College in Poteau and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah where she earned her BA in education. She made her home in Tulsa and lived there more than half of her life with her fur babies, and many friends.
Cathy enjoyed yarn crafts, knitting , and crocheting . She dedicated her life to helping the developmentally disabled. She had an infectious sense of humor. She loved her friends and family unconditionally. She was an amazing woman and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include sister Linda Arnett; brother Roy Scroggins; nieces and nephews Mishelle Frye, Janessa Vincent, Leslie Vincent, Ashley McDonald, Shyann Scroggins Vickery, Dearl Laymon, Ethan Scroggins; Numerous grandnieces, and grandnephews.
