Charles Earl Stark of Poteau, Oklahoma was born March 18, 1940 in Bellville, Texas to Alexander John and Hazel Louise (Krueger) Stark and passed away March 16, 2019 in Poteau, Oklahoma at the age of 78.

Kimberly Kay Stark of Barling, Arkansas

Two sisters:
Nancy Louise Maass of Brennam, Texas
Carolyn Ann Bunch of Bellville, Texas

Four nephews

Two nieces

Numerous other relatives and a host of many friends


He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander John and Hazel Louise Stark. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree and a Masters of Education degree from the Sam Houston University in Huntsville, Texas.


Charles was of the Methodist faith. He was a Junior High and High School football coach, Assistant Athletic Director, Food Service Director, and was in Administration for the Houston School System.


Charles loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed life to the fullest.


He was an avid golfer.


He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Charles will be dearly missed by many whom loved and knew him.


Funeral services are 3 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville, Texas. Burial will follow in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Bellville, Texas.


Viewing will be from noon until 8:00 p.m., Monday here at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home in Heavener.


He will then be transported to Schmidt Funeral Home on Tuesday for viewing and services.
