Charles Leroy Thompson, Sr. 83, of Cameron, Oklahoma passed away Friday, August 14, 2020, in Pocola, Oklahoma. He was born March 31, 1937 in Baron, Oklahoma to Monroe Oliver and Iva Beatrice (Nabers) Thompson. Charles married the love of his life, Hazel Jewel Dean (Coppak) Thompson on September 20, 1957 in Sayer, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kenneth Thompson; his sisters, Penny Martin and Ethel Rutz; and his brothers, William, Bobby, Joel, and Frank Thompson.
Survivors include his wife Jewel Thompson; daughters, Charlene Roger and husband John, Shirley Judd and husband Darryl, and Norvalla Hohn and husband Clyde; sons, Dr. Charles Thompson, Jr and wife Janet and Lee Thompson; sister, Emma Lee Webb; brother, Melvin Thompson; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Charles was of the Baptist faith and was devoted husband, father, and grandfather He had many titles and hobbies including barber, truck driver, and minister who loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, music, and playing his guitar and violin.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Downing Cemetery in Baron, Oklahoma. Viewing will be Tuesday 9:00am – 7:00pm, with the family visiting with friends Tuesday 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Funeral Service of Poteau, Oklahoma.
