Charles Wayne Hurley of Spiro, Oklahoma was born November 30, 1937 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Euell and Bernice (Wade) Hurley and passed away November 1, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 83.

Other relatives and a host of friends
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Bettie Hurley. Charles was a life-long resident of the area, a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country in the Vietnam Era, and was a member of the Heavener Masonic Lodge #154. He served one term as Leflore County Sheriff from 1984-1988, worked as a Security Guard with Choctaw Tribe, and also worked several years as an Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Charles was also of the Church of Christ faith.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Reichert Cemetery with Reverend Phil McGehee officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. until Noon, Thursday at the funeral home.
