Chester “Chuck” Goodwin, 75, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, with his brother Steven by his side.

Chuck was born on October 29, 1949, in Cameron, Oklahoma. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War and was discharged in March 1971 with the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5).
A hardworking man of many talents, Chuck was a skilled fence builder and the owner of Green Country Fence in Poteau for many years. Known for his strong work ethic, he also knew how to enjoy life, especially when it came to hunting and fishing, two of his favorite pastimes.
On December 25, 2009, Chuck suffered a dissected aorta and several strokes, which left him severely disabled. Despite the many challenges that followed, he faced each day with the same grit and determination that defined his life.
Chuck is survived by his partner of 30 years, Pat (French) Pickle; his brother, Steven Goodwin and wife Janice; stepchildren, Michael Tackett and Tracy Moquett; grand-daughters; Jackelynn Gutierrez, and Zoe Nesbitt; grand-sons, Hunter Tackett, and Jake Tackett; nieces, Stephanie Blake and husband Joshua, and Alicia O’Connell and husband Vince; nephews, Edward Courtney II, and Andrew Courtney and wife Heather; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Aleen Goodwin, and his sister, Mary Lou Courtney.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at the Talihina VA Center, Pocola Health and Rehab, and the Sallisaw VA Center for the love and care they provided Chuck over the years.
Graveside services for Chester “Chuck” Goodwin will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Cameron, Oklahoma, with Glenn Baggs officiating.
