Pete grew up in Panama, Oklahoma, more specifically, Poker Bend. In his youth, he enjoyed baseball, hunting, and fishing and generally anything active and outdoors. He became a Christian at the age of 21 and that event drove the rest of his life. He pastored his first church at the age of 29 in Crowder, Oklahoma. Pete brought his family back to this area in 1976 where he pastored the Murray Spur Free Will Baptist Church in Spiro for 3 ½ years. In 1981, Pete helped start the Spiro Free Will Baptist Church where he ministered until his death. He spent his adult life building and remodeling and later, investing in properties that needed a little care much like he did with people. He loved learning about his Choctaw heritage and history in general. You could usually find him tending his garden or squirrel hunting. He thrived on mentoring others and teaching the Bible. Relationships were of upmost importance to Pete. He was a helper of those in need and often took people under his wing. Pete was a true man of God. He was kind and generous to those around him. People often described him as “larger than life” so he should be quite comfortable in his forever home walking with his Lord and Savior.
