Darenda was born on September 22, 1958, in Kahuku, Hawaii, to Vivian Labra and Edmund Woods. She passed away on June 5, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She was united in marriage to Fred Joseph on July 17, 2010, in Poteau, Oklahoma.
Darenda was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Labra, and her brother, Brian.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and an active and proud board member of CASA, where she was dedicated to advocating for children in need. Darenda worked for the Choctaw Nation for over twenty years as a casino manager, where she was known for her leadership and dedication. She was a member of the Poteau Chamber of Commerce.
Darenda will be remembered for her loving heart, her excellent cooking, and her joy in sharing the Hawaiian tradition of hula dancing.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Joseph; daughter, Charisse Maestri and husband Ryan; sons, Trevor Hunt and wife Michele, Peter Marrero and wife Marilyn, and David Marrero; grandchildren, Noah, Ethan, Alex, Benjamin, Rebekah, Ester, Saemson, and Rhylee; father, Edmund Woods; sisters, Tammy, Annette, and Michele; brothers, Joey, Jodi, Eddie Jr., Johnny, and Stevie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.
