David Jefferson Heavener of Heavener, Oklahoma was born January 4, 1917 in the Reichert Community to Joseph and Ora (Milligan) Heavener and passed away on March 9, 2019 in Heavener, Oklahoma at the age of 102.

 

He is survived by:

One son:
John David Heavener of the Conser Community

One sister:
Doris Jean John of Modesto, California

One brother:
Leroy Heavener and wife Mary of Howe, Oklahoma

Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and host of friends

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ora Heavener; three brothers, Herman Ray Heavener and two infant brothers; and six sisters, Lavon Shearer, Juanita McClain, Gearldean Thrift, Freda Welton, Zelma Johns, and Oleta Shearer.

 

Dave was a life-long resident of the area, a rancher, and a member of the Hodgen Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, and was very mild mannered. He will be deeply missed by many whom loved and knew him. David was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

 

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Hodgen Cemetery with Mr. Leroy Heavener officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Hodgen Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

 

Viewing will be from noon until 4:00 p.m., Monday; 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday; and 8:00 a.m. until noon, Thursday at the funeral home.
