Denver Leon Cogburn, 86, of Warner, Oklahoma (formerly of Summerfield, Oklahoma) was born August 22, 1939 in Ventura, California to Dewey Denver and Susie Caroline (Lemmons) Cogburn and passed away on November 12, 2025 in Warner, Oklahoma.

He is survived by:

One daughter:

Samantha Steelman of Summerfield, Oklahoma

Two sons:

John Cogburn of Summerfield, Oklahoma

Andrew Cogburn of Summerfield, Oklahoma

Two grandchildren:

Makayla Steelman and Colt Steelman

Numerous other loved ones and a host of friends

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lavonne (Cox) Cogburn; two sisters Hazel Naylor and Dyan Grubbs; and three brothers Palmer, Donnie, and Terry Cogburn.

Denver was a long-time resident of the area. He was a veteran, where he served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. He graduated from EOSC with his Associates Degree and was in the ROTC. Denver was self-employed, raised chickens and cattle, and worked as a rancher. He will be missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

He wrote this poem:

“I’ve walked on the Arctic IceCap and on the shores of the Phillipine Sea, Been to Nan-Madol and the Costa del Sol, Seen all that I could see, been to Saipan, Jaypan, Vietnam, Malmo, Olongopo, and Sasebo, Hongkong, Saigon, and Kobenhavn. I’ve walked I the Black Forest of Germany, strolled thru the Gardens of Tivoli, watched the Fire Fall in the Valley of Yosemite, and saw the tulips in bloom on the Eider Dee”. ~ by: Denver Cogburn
