Doris Jean Denton of Heavener, Oklahoma was born November 5, 1932 in Bates, Arkansas to Buford and Myrtle (Goss) Winters and passed away on January 1, 2019 in Heavener, Oklahoma at the age of 86.


She is survived by:

One daughter:
Jeanne Mead and husband Bobby of Heavener, Oklahoma

Two sons:
Dwight Denton of California
Dennis Denton and wife Pam of Alaska

One daughter-in-law:
Susan Tolbert of Poteau, Oklahoma

Seven grandchildren:
Tonya Cheek and husband Rodney
Clint Pebsworth
Jason Tolbert
Taylor Shockley and husband Taylor
Robert Mead and wife Misty
Eric Mead and companion Jennifer
Austin Mead and wife Katie

11 great-grandchildren:
Makayla Manley and husband Tyler
Carson and Gannon Cheek
Lydia Pebsworth
Treven and Holden Shockley
Addsion Mead
Hailey Mead
Shay Scott
Christian Scott
Greyson Mead

Several other relatives and a host of friends


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Denton; and one son, Stanley Tolbert.


Doris was a long-time resident of the area, a Beautician for 42 years, and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.


Doris loved spending time with her family and friends. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. Doris loved gardening, cooking, and baking bread for friends.


Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Heavener, Oklahoma with Brother Joe Haydon Hall officiating.


Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.


Pallbearers will be: Clint Pebsworth, Rodney Cheek, Robert Mead, Eric Mead, Austin Mead, Carson Cheek, Gannon Cheek, and Jason Tolbert.


Honorary Pallbearers will be: James McMillan, Eddie Olive, Elmer Nixon, Roger Cheek, Gary Youree, and Adam Blaylock.


Viewing will be from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.


The family will have visitation with friends on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Heavener, Oklahoma.
