Dorothy Ann Choate was born on November 1, 1946 in Peno, Oklahoma to Lewis and Vertie Phillips.
Dorothy attended Douglas High School, until Douglas was segregated and then she continued her education at Spiro High School and graduated in 1964.
Then went on to marry Henry Choate on September 28, 1972. This union was blessed with four children. Dorothy was a homemaker for a period of years. She also worked for OK Foods in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Sierra Corporation in Pocola, Oklahoma, and the Old Cannery in Spiro, Oklahoma. Dorothy and her husband attended Faith Temple Church of God and Christ in Murry Spur, Oklahoma and later she attended Evangel Temple in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Dorthy Ann Choate was called home October 24, 2018 at the age of 72 years old.
Dorothy Ann Choate was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Vertie Phillips, sister, Reatha Poole, brothers, Escoe, Billy, and Charles Phillips.
She leaves to cherish, her husband, Henry Choate of Spiro, Oklahoma, one daughter, Felicia Lynn Phillips (Malcolm McFerren), of Spiro, Oklahoma, three sons, James Allen Phillips of Spiro, Oklahoma, Jovan Carzette Choate (Brandy) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Cody Wayne Choate (Jennifer) of Fort Worth, Texas, two sisters; Freda Mae Clayton of Spiro, Oklahoma, Norma Jean Reed (Robert) of Spiro, Oklahoma, one brother, William B. Phillips (Cynthia) of Spiro, Oklahoma, five grandchildren; Laneise Phillips, Damon Henderson, Blake Scott (Lil Kat), Kathelean Scott, Kane Bassham, four great grandchildren; Darrius Phillips, Dredon Phillips, Dezmariah Phillips, Camden Ayers, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was affectionately loved by family members and those who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, November 3rd at the Evangel Temple Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas with Pastor Charlie Murphy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fort Coffee Cemetery in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro, Oklahoma.
Family with friends visitation/viewing will be Friday 6pm-8pm at the funeral home.
