Funeral Service for Douglas Binns, Sr., 86 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Freedom House Fellowship in Heavener, Oklahoma with Sam Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery in Monroe, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Doug passed away on June 4, 2024 at home with his family by his side. Doug was born on October 1, 1937 in Coaldale, Arkansas to Elmer and Cordelia (Huckaby) Binns. Doug was of the Baptist faith. When he graduated high school he moved to Wichita, Kansas, where his wife Lebrica joined him two years later. They then had two children, Doug Jr., and Donna. They attended Plainview Baptist Church where he was Youth Director for 17 years and he worked at Boeing Aircraft for 40 years. He and his beautiful wife retired and moved back to Poteau, Oklahoma to their dream home. He then spent 20 years on the Board of Directors for Kiamichi Electric Co-Op. Doug loved gospel music. He was in three quartets. He enjoyed singing for Jesus. Doug is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Doug Jr; his siblings, John Binns, Kenneth Binns, Eunice Blake, and Norma Blake. Doug is survived by his wife, of 66 years, Lebrica Binns; his daughters, Donna Binns and Karen Binns; grandchildren, Mersades Binns and Crystal Lane; great grandchildren, Leo Binns, Justin Lane, Cody Lane, Heidi Lane, Savannah Lane, Jesse Lane, Aspen Lane; and brother, Don Binns. He loved playing with his grandchildren and telling them stories. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Doug loved going to church at Freedom House and Worship where he had so many friends that he considered family. Doug loved his Pastor, Brother Sam and his wife Lisa. — Glory!!
Pallbearers will be Jerry Jones, Jimmy Jones, Larry Davis, Jess Ryburn, George Buffington, and Donna Binns.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill James, Robert Swinford, Michael Highfill, and Terry Shinn.
