Viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Drucille was born on August 16, 1937, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Nettie Eunice (Davidson) Vance Kelley and Leslie Lawrence Vance. She passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
On March 6, 1954, she married the love of her life, Charles William “Jimmy” Morton, in Poteau, Oklahoma. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles “Jim” Morton; her parents, Leslie Lawrence Vance and Nettie Eunice Kelley; her brother, Willard Vance; her sisters, Colleen, Deverne, and Virginia; her son, Weslie Morton; her daughter, Cheryl Perkins; and her grandson, Tyler Morton.
Drucille’s greatest joy in life was her family. Affectionately known as “Grainma” by several of her granddaughters, she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She also had a lifelong passion for fishing that began in childhood. An outdoorswoman at heart, she never lost her love for casting a line. During her many visits to Tahlequah with her son Owen, she looked forward to fishing in a private pond owned by family friends. Even in later years, using a walker never slowed her down, she still delighted in catching and reeling in a big fish.
A gifted writer, Drucille expressed herself through poems and short stories that remain cherished keepsakes for her family. She was a faithful, longtime member of the Church of Christ and lived a life of compassion and service to others.
Her generous spirit was reflected in her many years of volunteer work. She served for 12 years as a Support Group Facilitator with the Alzheimer’s Association. She dedicated nine years to Project Compassion, where she was honored as Volunteer of the Year. She also volunteered for five years with the Reynolds Cancer Support House in Fort Smith and gave her time to the River Valley Ovarian Cancer Association. Her kindness, encouragement, and willingness to serve made a lasting difference in the lives of many.
She is survived by her sons, Owen Morton and wife Patti of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Leslie Morton of Rock Island, Oklahoma; her son-in-law, Jess Perkins of Pocola, Oklahoma; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Perkins, Austin Morton, Seth Morton, Colton Billy, Landon Billy, and Hayden Billy.
The family invites those who knew and loved Drucille to remember her for her unwavering faith, her servant’s heart, her love of the outdoors, and the deep devotion she showed to her family. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
