Memorial Service for Eddie Leroy Smith, 80 of Shady Point, Oklahoma will be at 2pm on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 26928 Waterfield Street in Shady Point, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Shady Point Cemetery in Shady Point, Oklahoma. Cremation the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Leroy was born on August 25, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Lottie Mae McCuller and Eddie Smith SR. and passed away on November 14, 2022 in Shady Point, Oklahoma. He was married to Janet (Mixon) Smith on June 13, 1987 in Shady Point, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Smith SR.; mother, Lottie Mae Haight, husband Charlie; daughters, Angela Michelle Smith, and Delynda Sue Smith. Leroy grew up in East Texas. Attended School in Joaquin, Texas. He started working in the oilfield at the age of 14 and continued until moving his family to the Alaskan oilfields and then on to the Rocky Mountain oil fields. He met Janet in Baggs, Wyoming and then spent over 35years working oilfield & construction together. Leroy was always ready to tell a good story and never ran out of stories to tell.
Survivors include: wife, Janet Mixon Smith; son, Don Smith; grandchildren, Anna Marie Waldren and husband Ryan, Chelsie Smith, Kali Bjork and husband Jon; great grandchildren, Landry Koehn, Gavin Waldron, Brailey, Graclyn and Mason Bjork.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger McCuller, Don Smith, Ryan Waldren, Jon Bjork, Harmel Jolly, Gavin Waldren, Gerry Hawkins, and Johnny Mixon.
