Floyd Loraine “F.L.” Wilson, Jr., 81, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away on November 15, 2024, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. F.L. was born on March 25, 1943, in Poteau to Edna (Bandy) Wilson and Floyd Loraine Wilson, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Poteau and a beloved member of the community.
F.L. was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Margarett “Kathy” Wilson; and his sister, Quida Daniels. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
F.L. is survived by his two sons, Paul Wilson, and Timothy Wilson and wife Kim. He was a proud grandfather to Brice and Kara Wilson, Blake and Anna Wilson, Grant and Mikeisha Wilson, and Gabba and Michael Terry, and six great-grandchildren, Kase Wilson, Kallen Wilson, Hayden Wilson, Ellie Wilson, Kingston Wilson, and Kimber Wilson.
In addition to his immediate family, F.L. is survived by his extended family, including Sam and Delaun Abbott and Briley Abbott, as well as special friends Pat Dill and Linda Smith. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Oaks Nursing Home for their compassionate care during his final years.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate F.L.’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Southside Baptist Church in Poteau, Oklahoma, with Jim Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Monroe Cemetery in Monroe, Oklahoma. Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Abbott, Weylin Groom, Raymond Humphries, Len Humphries, Cornell Reece, and Kendall Ballew.
