Floyd Wayne Howard Sr., 74, of Pocola, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, in Roland, Oklahoma. He was born on April 20, 1951, in Pocola to Hazel (Jones) Howard and Fielder Howard.

Floyd was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to fish, hunt, go antiquing, quilt, and cook for his family. He especially enjoyed sitting outside and watching the wildlife at night. Above all, Floyd cherished time spent with his family, and his love for them was the cornerstone of his life.

He was a faithful member of the Poteau Church of Christ, where he found strength, fellowship, and purpose throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fielder Howard and Hazel (Jones) Howard, siblings Franklin “Buddy” Howard, William “Billy” Howard, and Carolyn “Susie” Howard.

Floyd is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Howard; daughter, Taylor Howard and husband Josh Durham; sons, Floyd Wayne Howard II and wife Carissa, David Howard and wife Taja, and Adam Howard. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Patsy Sebo; brothers, Jimmy John Howard and wife Linda, Ricky Howard and wife Barbara, Larry Howard and wife Billie Ann, Charlie Howard and wife Carol, and James Howard and wife Donna; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Floyd’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Evans Chapel of Memories in Pocola, Oklahoma, with Denver Bowen and Virgil Cantrell officiating. Services are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
