Glenda Sue Stallings, 87, of Heavener, Oklahoma, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Sue, the oldest of four children,  was born on October 23, 1937, in Monroe, Oklahoma, to Carl and Opal (Evans) Hicks.
On December 24, 1953, Sue married the love of her life, Jim Stallings, a cowboy from New Mexico. Together, they built a life full of adventure, hard work, and unwavering devotion. Their journey took them across several states, raising a family and working hard along the way. Their first son, Jimmy, was born in Jackson, California. Thirteen months later, daughter Debbie made her entrance into the world in the front seat of the family’s pickup truck in route to the hospital, an unforgettable moment that led the family to lovingly nickname that spot “Debbie Hill.” Thirteen months later, son David was born in a remote logging camp in Reserve, New Mexico.
Life was not always easy, but Sue faced every challenge with strength and grace. In a time and place without electricity or indoor plumbing, she raised three young children, using a gasoline-powered wringer washer to clean their clothes. She learned the ways of the ranch, becoming a cowgirl alongside her husband, riding horses Trigger and Bachelor through the rugged beauty of the New Mexico landscape.
Ten years after David’s birth, Sue and Jim welcomed their youngest son, Heath, in Gallup, New Mexico. In 1977, the family sold their ranch in Thoreau, New Mexico, and settled in Heavener, Oklahoma, where Sue became a devoted member of Forrester Baptist Church. Her deep faith was evident in her daily life, and she served faithfully for over 40 years, recently receiving an award from the church in recognition of her lifetime of devout and faithful service to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim Stallings; her parents, Carl and Opal Hicks; her sons, Jimmy Stallings and Heath Stallings; her sister, Jimmi Lou Thornburg; and her brother, Carl “Sonny” Hicks.
She is survived by her daughter Debbie Cook and husband Mark of Heavener, OK; son David Stallings and wife Rhetta of Poteau, OK; Grandchildren Corey Stallings and wife Amanda of Heavener, Shawn Cook and wife Sandra of Swartz Creek, MI, Carrie Alexander and husband Dusty of Heavener, Travis Cook and wife Melody of Heavener, Seth Stallings and wife Tarah of Guthrie, OK, Lydia Bojanowski and husband Patryk of Houghton, LA, Josh Stallings and wife Sarah of Checotah, OK, Michaela Anderson and husband Brad of Sallisaw, OK; 26 Great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sister Delois Rogers of Poteau; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Sue was a woman of quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering faith. She looked forward to reuniting with her cowboy and two sons in her eternal home in Heaven. Her legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in all who knew her.
