Hatsue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billie Thompson; her parents; her brothers, Hideo and Hidenobu Arakaki; and her sister, Fumi Arakaki.
Hatsue had a long and fulfilling life. She worked at the Post Exchange (PX) operated by the American Armed Forces. She married Billie (William Charles Thompson) on October 21, 1969, at Naha City Hall in Okinawa, Japan, beginning a loving and cherished partnership that lasted for many years.
Hatsue was a dedicated member of the Poteau First Free Will Baptist Church since the early 1970s, a community she was deeply proud of and where she formed lasting bonds of friendship and faith. She took great joy in her church family and was a testament to the power of love, service, and devotion.
A woman of many talents, Hatsue was known for her green thumb, her love of shopping, and especially her cooking, which brought joy to all who knew her. Her warmth and hospitality were reflected in the way she cared for her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Fred Thompson and wife Leatha, Doyle Thompson and wife Sammie, Hoyt Thompson, Janelle Arrowfeather and husband Rick, and Hal Thompson and wife Lucky; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her brother, Hidemasa Arakaki; sister, Mieko Tamashiro; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma, with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Cauthron Cemetery in Cauthron, Arkansas, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Thompson, Billie Thompson, Zane Thompson, Alex Thompson, Jeffery Martin, and Bryan Martin.
