Henry Albert Akins “Cherokee”

Born July 10th, 1955 to Jimmy Donel Akins and Mae Bell Mackey Akins.

Passed away November 6th, 2020 in his home in Las Vegas NV.

Cherokee enjoyed the outdoors. He was a competitive bowler and gifted singer. Cherokee also LOVED Ronald Reagan, watching football, a good steak and a cold beer.

Cherokee leaves behind his beloved wife of 18 years Jeanie Akins of the home. 2 sons: Jimmy & Amanda Akin; Steve and Lorie Rutledge all of Poteau. 1 Step-Son: Dwight McAlester of Heavener. 3 Step-Daughters: Sherry & Brian Shadwick of Wister; Carla Martin, Darla & Kevin Duvall all of Greenwood, AR. 1 Sister: Carol Ann Spindle of Checotah, OK. 3 Nieces, 14 grandkids and 5 great grandbabies.

The family will hold a memorial service at the Iron Bridge Cemetery in Keota, OK on July 10th, 2022 at 4:00pm
