BBQ, hard work, overalls, hats, westerns on TV....all these things made Henry Choate who he was.

 

Henry Choate passed peacefully July 26, 2019 at the age of 74. He was born February 23, 1945 in Vian, Oklahoma to Altesa Choate and Lonnie Thompson.

 

Henry met the love of his life, Dorothy, through his future brother-in-law. They were married on September 28, 1972. Henry was a hard worker and knew hard work led to success. He started work at Whirlpool in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1969 and retired from there after 38 years in 2007.

 

Henry is survived by four children: James Phillips of Spiro, Oklahoma, Felicia Phillips (Malcom) of Spiro, Oklahoma, Jovan Choate (Brandy) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Cody Choate (Jennifer) of Fort Worth, Texas, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Choate, and other family members.

 

Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am Monday July 29, 2019 at Evangel Temple Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas with Reverend Don Hutchings officiating.

 

Burial will follow at Fort Coffee Cemetery in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro, Oklahoma.

 

Viewing will be Sunday July 28, 2019 from 12pm- 7pm with the family greeting friends from 5pm – 7pm Sunday.
