Herman Harrell (Dub) Tolbert was born to Harrell and Jessie Tolbert of Bokoshe, Oklahoma on May 21, 1943. From the day he was born until the day he passed, he spent his days on the farm tending the land he loved and building a life rooted in hard work and heart. One day, Dub was drag racing a young woman down Highway 31 who later became the love of his life for 61 years, “Sharon Kay”. Together they had 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
After high school, Dub began his career as a sheet metal mechanic, where he became highly skilled in his trade. This led Dub to a co-ownership of the company L&W Equipment, where they produced high quality stainless steel products for the poultry industry. During his time at L&W Equipment, Dub invented a single filer machine that he received a U.S. patent for. This machine was installed throughout poultry plants all across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Dub also served many years as a school board member at Bokoshe Public Schools.
When not at work, Dub enjoyed team roping, coon and quail hunting, tending to his cattle, horses, dogs, and garden. He spent many hours in his John Deere tractors, which he was deeply fond of. He loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. Dub (“Pop”) was always giving them a new nickname and a hard time, while also teaching them all about the land, hunting, fishing, riding horses, and doing just about anything they wanted.
At the age of 72, Dub gave his life to Christ. His family believes this was his miracle on earth and considered it an answer to many years of prayer.
Our beloved Dub Tolbert went to be with the Lord while in his home on July 29th, 2025 at the age of 82 years old, with his wife Sharon Kay by his side. While this may be the end of his physical life on earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal life with our savior.
Dub is preceded in death by his parents, Harrell and Jessie Tolbert.
Dub is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Kay; daughter, Shannon Bullard; daughter, Dana Doshier and husband Michael; 5 grandchildren, Isabela Doshier and fiance Austin Place; Rylan Bullard; Reagan Martin and husband Jeffery; Nate Doshier; Brooklie Doshier, and numerous family members and loved ones.
Funeral Service for Dub was at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Victory Worship Center in Spiro, Oklahoma with Reverend Bryan Fout, Reverend Keith Williams, and Nate Doshier officiating. Burial followed at Old Bokoshe Cemetery in Bokoshe, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
