Ila Katherine Adkins, 70, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 in Weleetka, OK. Ila was born February 26, 1951 in Arkoma, OK to Justice & Lola (Holland) Adkins. Ila was known to everyone as Kathy or Cricket. She was full of life. She laughed and loved big! Kathy had a unique laugh that was contagious and had you laughing along with her even if you had no idea what you were laughing about! Kathy worked as a cook for many years at the Poteau Hospital.

She also worked serving many residents at Heavener, The Oaks and Arkoma Nursing Homes and she enjoyed every minute of it. Kathy would wake up, wash her face, make her coffee, read her Bible & newspaper. Her hobbies included sewing (she loved it) sewing many quilts, curtains, clothes… you name it she sewed it. She also enjoyed fishing and ALWAYS loved visiting with her friends. She loved her 2 sons and grandkids so very, very much. She always enjoyed going camping with them. “Cricket” also loved her pepsi and of course a payday candy bar to go with it! She is already deeply missed by everyone. We take comfort in knowing she is resting high with our Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Vernon Plummer; sisters, Cindy Orozco, Bertha Sanders, Evelyn Adkins, Ruth Marie & Wanda Lee; brothers, Bobby Jean, Leonard Adkins, Harold Adkins & Leslie Adkins.

Survivors include her son – Damond Plummer of Poteau, OK; sisters, Leona Hollan of Panama, OK, Beulah King and Mary Adkins of Poteau, OK; grandchildren, William, Kayla & Shelby; 8 Great Grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Hodgen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Damond Plummer, Ronnie Lovell, James Lemmons, and Rodney Derryberry. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 pm.
