James Allen Phillips (Bobby-Ray), 53, a lifelong resident of Spiro, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on December 3, 2020. He was born on May 1, 1967 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was the oldest child of Dorothy Choate and James Cade; raised by Henry Choate. James attended Spiro High School where he was very active in sports, running track, playing football, and basketball. He graduated in 1985. After graduation he went on to work at Whirlpool. There he me a lot of lifelong friends, as James was known as a social butterfly, the jokester, always making people smile. He never met a stranger. He played softball with the Whirlpool Company League.
James was preceded in death by his Mother, Dorothy Choate and Step-Father Henry Choate.
James will be deeply missed and is survived by his former wife, Belinda Scott of Van Buren, Arkansas and their only son, Blake Scott (Kayla) of Yukon, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Nevaeh and Bryson of Yukon, Oklahoma; daughter, Katheleen Scott of Houston, Texas; sister, Felica Phillips (Malcolm) of Spiro, Oklahoma; brothers, Jovan Choate (Brandy) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Cody Choate (Jennifer) of Fort Worth, Texas; close friend, Elaina Hyatt of Spiro, Oklahoma; Uncle, William Bee Phillips; Aunts, Freda Clayton, Norma Reed (Robert); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.
Viewing will be Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 9:00am – 7:00pm at the funeral home with the family greeting friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
James’ family will hold services at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro, Oklahoma.
