Funeral Service for James David Delap, 76 of Wister, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Bethel Baptist in Wister, Oklahoma with Sam Walden, and Simon Billy officiating. Burial will follow at Maxey Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.

James was born on March 25, 1947 in Ponca City to Doris Catherine (Hardesty) Delap and Lonnie Eugene Delap and passed away on May 22, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and Honorary brothers, David and Curtis Bullard. JD and Linda met and married in 1974 in Caribou, Maine. They later moved to West Point, California and started a water well drilling business. There they had two daughters, before moving back to Wister, Oklahoma in 1994 where JD started a rock cutting business. JD loved gardening, growing muscadine grapes, along with wine making, planting fruit trees, hunting and fishing. He was a quiet loving family man who enjoyed living in the small town of Wister.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Delap; daughters, Missy Alexander and husband Dennis, Loni Bohannon and husband Bo; son, Eric Doak; sisters, Wanda Martin, and Calveda Ricitelli; brothers, Jimmy Delap and wife Brenda, Rick Delap and wife Susan; parents, Honorary mother, Loretta (aunt Fet) Bullard, and sisters; Lynn, Bonnie, and Eva (Bootie); grandchildren, Samantha Ball and husband Kyle, Kayla Medina and husband Christian, Aiden Alexander and Fiance Mattie Walker, Spencer Campbell, Benjamin Campbell, and Livia Campbell; great grandchildren, Adam, Jack, and Oliver Ball, and Hudson Medina.
Pallbearers will be Christian Medina, Aiden Alexander, Benjamin Campbell, Butch Essman, Randy Duvall, Steve Walden, David Alexander, and Bill Crose.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Powers, Henry Manning, Joe Sumpter, Scottie Shreve, and Glen Kitchens.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
