Jane Ellen Sparks, 77, passed away on July 6, 2025, in Poteau, Oklahoma. Jane was born on September 15, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents John and Ruth (Weber) Taylor. Jane’s Christian Faith and her Servants Heart led her to her to the medical field where she worked her way through every capacity and eventually earned her RN-BSN. She spent over 30 years caring for the needs of the people of our community, whether it was in the hospital or when she was an instructing her students at Kiamichi Vo Tech.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Ruth Anne Meyer.

Jane is survived by her son John Sparks of Rowlett, Texas, her daughter Christy Sparks of Poteau, Oklahoma, and her four grandchildren Cole, Kennedy, Camden, and Kheiran, along with many other relatives and loved ones.

The Celebration of Life Services for Jane was held from 2pm – 4pm on Friday, July 11, 2025, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma. The Family of Jane Sparks greeted friends during this time. Also, for Jane’s many years of nursing, the Nurses Honor Guard of the River Valley was in attendance to represent the compassion and dedication of all nurses and to honor Jane for her many years of service.
