Janet was born on February 28, 1948 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Gloria (Milligan) Plummer and Curtis Ralph Plummer and passed away on May 11, 2023 in Poteau, Oklahoma . She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Billy Slote, and Jerry Tolbert; Janet was born in Heavener, Oklahoma in the back of a grocery store. Janet went to school in Poteau and was wooed by a local boy, Billy Charles Slote. They married young and soon had two daughters. Janet made her family her life. She helped out with many church and school organizations with her daughters as they grew up. All kids were welcome at the Slote home and many made trips to visit her over the years. Much to her daughters chagrin, Janet taught canning, churning, and lots of early morning berry picking to her girls and friends who slept over were also included in said chores.

After the girls grew and left home, and blessed her with the best grandkids ever, her and Bill took the opportunity to travel. They had some great times until Bill passed away much too soon. Janet had to find her way in life again. This time Jerry Tom Tolbert came in and swept her off her feet. She sold the family farm, grabbed her grown kids and whisked them away to Cameron to all live together in a single home. Many good times, lots of good food, and a few tears were had! After a few years, Jerry passed away and Janet was left with her grown kids, letting them be the center of her life again. Her girls and grand girls were with her to the end and plan on seeing her again someday.

Survivors include her daughters, Tonya Woodruff and husband William of Poteau, Oklahoma, and Dana Gilliam of Poteau, Oklahoma; Aunt, Jo Milligan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister in love, Linda Burns of Poteau, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Megan Woodruff of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Sami Jo Gilliam of Fort Smith, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
