Janice Ruth White, 70, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away on February 22, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Cameron, Oklahoma, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Janice was born on December 28, 1954, at Kern General Hospital in Bakersfield, California, to Jackson Ferguson and Doris Carpenter. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Janice enjoyed classic cars, cooking, baking, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren, great-nephews and nieces, and the rest of her family. She will be remembered for her warm heart, her kindness, and her love of bringing people together.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbert Jackson Ferguson; her mother, Doris Carpenter; her brothers, Johnny Carpenter, Jimmy Ferguson, and James Ferguson; and her sisters, Joann Ferguson and Joyce Fiebrantz.
Janice is survived by her sons, Byron Hartnett and wife Samantha of Spiro, Oklahoma; and Jason Hartnett and wife Alana of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Her beloved grandchildren, Jackson Hartnett and Madelyn Rose Hartnett.. She is also survived by her brother, Jerald Ferguson of Cameron, Oklahoma; her nephew, Alex Ferguson of Cameron, Oklahoma, and his children, Jayce Ferguson and Gavin Ferguson; her niece, Samantha Cauley, and her children, Hudson Robinson and Anna Brown.  Additionally, she is survived by Stephanie Osborne (niece through marriage) and her son, Liam Heatherington from Panama, Oklahoma; Tiffany Fiebrantz (niece) from Porum, Oklahoma; and Tambra Sullivan (family member by marriage) of California.
Pallbearers will be Byron Hartnett, Jason Hartnett, Alex Ferguson, Nathan Smith, Kalieb Archdale, and Daniel Brooks.
Janice’s family and friends will forever cherish the time spent with her and the impact she had on their lives.
