Jewel Dean (Brown) Holmes, Lidey of Sallisaw, Oklahoma was born February 3, 1942 in Forrester, Oklahoma to Walter Owen and Maggie (Watson) Brown and passed away January 15, 2020 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 77.

She is survived by:

Three daughters:
Kimberly Howell and husband Dale of Cullman, Alabama
Dorothy Couch and husband Terry of Roland, Oklahoma
Joquetta Waters and husband William of Sallisaw, Oklahoma

Two sons:
Pat Forbes and wife Jennifer of McMinnville, Tennessee
Joseph Holmes and wife Stephanie of Sallisaw, Oklahoma

Thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family

Jewel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph L. Holmes; one daughter Lindagale Holmes; eight sisters; and six brothers. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Heavener, Oklahoma, loved to sing about the Lord and was very talented at arts and crafts. Her mother, Maggie, was an original enrollee in the Choctaw Roll. She loved her family and will be missed by all who loved her.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the First Assembly of God Church in Heavener, Oklahoma with Reverend Ray Weaver, Reverend Charlie Scott and Reverend Jim Morton officiating. Interment will be in Big Creek Cemetery of the Big Creek community, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be:
Wesley Couch, Justin Bryan, Austin Waters, Kelly Waters, Tracy Holmes and Ronny Brown

Honorary pallbearers will be:
Terry Couch and William Waters

Viewing will be from noon until 8:00 p.m., Friday and 8:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
