Jimmy Edward Potter, age 72, of Bokoshe, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, in Bokoshe. He was born on November 6, 1952, in Cameron, Oklahoma, to Ruby (Arter) Potter and James Edward Potter. He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Potter, and siblings Johnny Potter, Ronnie Potter, Harold Potter, and Beverly Lewallen.
Jimmy grew up in Tahona, Oklahoma, where he developed a strong work ethic and love for the outdoors that followed him throughout his life. Jimmy dedicated 35 years of his life working at Riverside Furniture.
Jimmy loved to hunt and fish for as long as he was able. He enjoyed telling stories about the old days, especially hauling hay for Ambrose and his years at Riverside. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, June Potter; daughter Faith Potter and her husband James; mother Ruby Potter; grandchildren Sierra, Alyssa, and Bentley Spearman, and Kindra Dedmon. He also leaves behind his siblings: Linda Martin, Joyce Yarnell, Lovenia Hiesler, Randy Potter, Donnie Potter, Darrel Potter, Kenny Potter, and Barbie Potter, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 9:00 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Greenhill Cemetery in Cameron, Oklahoma, with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Viewing will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Darrel Potter, Randy Potter, Donny Potter, Kenny Potter, James Carr,
and Michael Spearman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Sierra Spearman, Alyssa Spearman, Bentley Spearman, and Kindra Dedmon.
