Jimmy Howard Stanton, 86, passed away on August 04, 2025 in Noble, Oklahoma surrounded by his family. Jimmy was born on October 30, 1938 in Cleveland, Mississippi to parents Ernest and Essie (Conner) Stanton. Jimmy completed undergraduate work at Delta State University in Mississippi, his Master’s Degree at Mississippi State, and his PhD at Purdue. Jimmy married the love of his life, Virgie McCarver in November of 1969. Jimmy taught at Cameron University in Lawton and worked to better the Physical Science Department over the years. Jimmy taught Sunday School at Central Baptist Church Lawton, Oklahoma for a number of years and enjoyed sharing his faith. Jimmy’s hobbies included working on clocks, making stained glass art, caring for honey bees, but mostly spending time with Virgie. Jimmy will be missed by all that knew him but will be fondly remembered for his loving nature, quick wit, and smile.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents E.L. and Essie Stanton, his wife Virgie Stanton, and his sister Waudean Stanton Thomas.

Jimmy is survived by his nieces Anita Clingan, Sherrill Howell, Cheryl Means, and Tamara Williams, his nephews Mark Bohannon and Murray Stanton, and his brother Oris Stanton, along with many other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life Services for Jimmy will be held privately by family at Heavener Memorial Cemetery in Heavener, Oklahoma with entombment to follow in the Stanton Family mausoleum.
