Funeral Service for Jimmy Ray Self, 82 of Spiro, Oklahoma will be at 10:00am on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro, Oklahoma with Reverend Vernon Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Miners Cemetery in McCurtain, Oklahoma under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro.Viewing will be Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 9am – 7pm. Pallbearers will be Alan Campbell, Alan Bridges, Wayne Brown, Kyle Burch, Tommy Joe Bryce, and Rob McCoy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Holmes, Charles Hare, Wayne Warren, Clenny Harrison, Frank Craig Huggins, Charles Pinion, Jerry Nixon, Cody McKee, and previous oil field workers.
Jimmy Ray was born on November 24, 1941 in McCurtain, Oklahoma to Elizabeth (Bills) Self and James Harold Self and passed away on July 28, 2024 in Spiro, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jimmy Ray wore many hats throughout his life including business man, working in the oilfield, coal mine and farming and was proud of them all, but the favorite hat he wore was being a father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Survivors include his sons, Daniel R. Self, James David Self; sisters, Charlotte Kaye Smith; step sister, Ruth Pennington; grandchildren, James Edward Self, James Thomas Self; Kynadi Danielle Self Fenton, Kelby Jake Self; great grandchildren, River Scott Self and one on the way.
