JoAnn Mattox, 78, passed away on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on November 25, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana, JoAnn was the daughter of Clifford and Josephine Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Clifford Jr and Gary Adams.

JoAnn is survived by her devoted sons Jody Adams and wife Jenny of Poteau, Oklahoma and Tim Gifford of Abilene, Texas. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Joni Laster and husband Seth and Jacques Adams and wife Mary Ann, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas, as well as her beloved great grandchildren Journi Rose, Josi Raye, Stetson Ridge Laster, and Margot Gwen Adams.

Proud of her Cajun Heritage, JoAnn brought joy and warmth everywhere she went. She was known for her incredible cooking, especially her famous gumbo and crawfish etouffee, dishes she made with love and shared with everyone fortunate enough to gather around her table. Her laughter, her stories, and her generous spirit made every visit feel like home. More than anything, JoAnn adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment she spent with them. JoAnn will be remembered for her fun-loving nature, her deep love for family and friends, and the warmth she gave so freely.

The Celebration of Life Services for JoAnn will be held 10am – Monday, November 24, 2025, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma with Randall Latham and Jody Ray Adams officiating and family meal to follow in The Cedars Celebration Room.
