JoAnn Urchison of Fort Smith, AR went to her heavenly home September 10, 2018. She was reunited with the love of her life, Edgar her husband of 59 years. Edgar passed away 7 years earlier and she missed him daily.

JoAnn Pickle was born October 2, 1933 in the Midway Community, LeFlore County, OK to Jerome & Mabel (Harris) Pickle. After graduating from Cameron High School in 1951 she entered the work field in Dallas, TX at an insurance company. She married Edgar Urchison shortly after he returned from the Korean War on June 7, 1952. They settled in Monroe, OK where they began ranching & raising a family.

 

Gardening was her passion, also known for her quilting in the community. She loved being outdoors and being with her family and friends.

 

She attended Monroe Church of Christ for many years, a devout Christian and believer. She was a former resident of the Brookfield Retirement Home in Fort Smith.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; her parents; two brothers, Clyde & Tom Pickle.

Survivors include her brothers, Samuel (Bill) Pickle & Sandy of Ft. Smith, Donald Pickle & Anita of St. Charles, MO and sister in law, Mary Pickle Miller of Ft. Smith; daughters, Alice Johnson & Jeff of Cave Springs, AR, Debi Rakes & Ron of Ft. Smith; sons, Gary Urchison & Freda of Monroe, OK, Ken Urchison of Midwest City, OK; grandchildren, Jennifer Tadlock & William of Concord, NC, Ryan Walker & Jacky of Richland, WA, Summer & Dr. Bryan Harris of Stillwater, OK, Grace Anna Day & Spencer of Fairplay, CO, Sean Wright of Hartford, AR, Charity Robertson & Jeremy of El Reno, OK, Eddie Urchison of El Reno; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; numerous nieces & nephews, many good friends & neighbors. She will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral services will be 10 am, Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Monroe Church of Christ with interment in Monroe Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Sean Wright, William Tadlock, Paul LaRosa, Vince Hill, Spencer Day, Eddy Urchison.

The family is very thankful to the staff at the Hospice Unit at Sparks Hospital, Fort Smith.
