Funeral Service for John Fletcher Casey, 79 of Spiro, Oklahoma will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Spiro, Oklahoma with Reverend James Smith officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, Oklahoma under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro, Oklahoma.

He was born on December 15, 1941 in Long Beach, California to Idell (Swafford) Casey and Harvey Casey and passed away on September 22, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Wanda Chastain, Patricia McIntosh; nephew Rick McIntosh, and great nephew, Tim Rose. Survivors include his brother-in-law, Richard McIntosh; nephews, Bob Bennett and wife Vicki, Steve Rose and wife Nancy, David McIntosh and wife Cindi; niece, Lori McIntosh Pistey and husband Wayne; 18 great nieces and nephews, 9 great-great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and friends.

John worked as a draftsman, soldier, manager, and carpenter, he was also a truck driver having worked for Whirlpool and retiring from OK Foods. After his retirement he started working for the Choctaw Nation as a building inspector, cart driver, and bus driver, he finally decided to retire again in May of 2021, but after his retirement he still couldn’t stay away and continued helping the Choctaw Community Center in Spiro as a handyman and jack of all trades. John was an advocate for and loved Jesus Christ, his church and his church family as well as all the organizations he was a part of and their members. He was a member of numerous organizations and wore many hats in his lifetime including being an Army Veteran having served in Vietnam earning the following medals; National Defense Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. In addition to being a veteran was member of the Spiro First Baptist Church, Spiro VFW, Poteau DAV, Spiro American Legion, Choctaw Nation, Choctaw Veterans, Spiro Eastern Star, Spiro Masonic Lodge, McAlester Scottish Rite, and a Bedouin Shriner.

Viewing will be 9:00-7:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be his masonic brothers and honorary pallbearers will be his fellow veterans.
