??????????
Shady Point, OK – John Monroe (“Monte”) Littlefield, 79, formally of Denison, TX, walked into Heaven on July 11, 2025, from his home surrounded by loved ones. The youngest son born to George Washington Littlefield and Joy Juanita (Hagle) Littlefield on March 11, 1946, in Quanah, Texas.
After 30 years of owning and operating Water Conditioning out of Pottsboro, TX, Monte retired in October 2015. He spent the rest of his life doing exactly what he wanted to do – keeping up with his beloved Sooner and Dallas Cowboy teams and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Monte grew up in Eldorado, OK where he and his sister, Cheryl, shared a special bond being only 18 months apart. He attended school in Eldorado, OK, graduating from Eldorado HS at the age of 16. He enrolled at the University of Oklahoma Law School that same year. He spent many years in the cattle business and was president of the same bank his father had owned. He was a pilot, had his own plane, and loved to fly. Along the way of his many travels, he was a professional drag racer, a professional boxer, a rancher, farmer, banker, businessman, and entrepreneur. He lived life to the fullest. If there was something to be fixed, he could do it. He was as handy as he was smart. He could build anything – a true MacGyver. There was nothing he couldn’t do. He also loved the Lord. The last few years of his life he was often spent reading his Bible and sharing his knowledge of it. He above all things was a fighter; he simply didn’t know how to give up. It always had to be on his terms, even in death. He fought fiercely. He is most definitely one of a kind and we loved him. We called him Daddy.
He is survived by his sister Cheryl (Neil) Grossman of Long Island NY; his sons: Russell (Jennifer) Bunch of Vernon, TX, John Monroe (Marcia) Littlefield llI of Moultrie, GA, Shane (Susan) Brown of Sallisaw, OK; his daughters: Terri Wedge of CO, Jamie (Randy) Osborn of Morrilton, AR, Jonna (Shane) Robinson of Shady Point, OK, and Jennifer (Nick) Higgins of Howe, OK. Also, the mother of his younger children and special friend, Teresa Martin of Howe, OK. Monte leaves behind his grandchildren: Marleigh and Tyler; J.J., Chris, Hanna, and Justin; Jared, Courtney, and Kaden; Ariel, Eric, Jeff, Dillon, and Dawson; Charlea, Hunter, Gunner, and Taylar; Kobe and Myka; 19 Great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty, brother-in-law, Charles Yeager, and his brother, Harley Littlefield.
The Celebration of Life Services for John will be held 3pm – Monday, July 21, 2025, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma. The Family of John “Monte” Littlefield will greet friends from 5pm – 7pm on Sunday, July 20, 2025, also at The Cedars on Dewey.
