Funeral Service for John Nicholas Damato, 72 of Pocola, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Pocola, Oklahoma with Mike Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Pocola, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola, Oklahoma.
John Nicholas was born on March 8, 1951 in San Francisco, California to Dorthia (Hume) Damato and Nicholas Damato and passed away on October 4, 2023 in Pocola, Oklahoma. He was married to Jane Damato on November 7, 1981 in Pocola, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Jean Rogers. More than anything, John’s life focus was his family. He loved to spend time with his wife traveling, going out to eat, working in the yard, and gardening. He loved to watch OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys games with his son. For the entire time his granddaughters were growing up, you could find him cheering them on at every game. When he was home relaxing, he always has his Boston Terrier by his side.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Damato; son, Tim Damato; brother, Joe Damato; grandchildren, Chloe McClary and husband Bryson, Emma Damato; great grandchildren, Bladen McClary.
Pallbearers will be Jess Henry, Bryson McClary, Jordan Rogers, Daniel Danato, David Williams, and Michael Pipkins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be James Ogden, Mary Williams, Sonda Smithpeters, Kathleen MacBryde, Angie Gregory, and Greg Smithpeters.
Visitation will be Monday, October 9, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
