Jonas David Bourne, 43, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026. He was born on April 7, 1983, in Poteau, Oklahoma.
Jonas was the beloved son of the late David Bourne and Debbie (Christenberry) Bourne.
Jonas had a special love for the outdoors and treasured the time he spent camping and fishing with his family at Kerr Lake. His favorite place to be, relaxing in his canoe on the water, taking in the beauty of God’s creation. Those peaceful moments surrounded by nature and family were among his greatest joys.
Through his work at Carl Albert State College and several mobile phone companies, including his most recent position with T-Mobile, Jonas became known by many throughout the community. He seemed to know everyone, and his friendly nature and willingness to help made a lasting impression on those who crossed his path.
Jonas was preceded in death by his father, David Bourne; his uncle, Bobby Bourne; and his grandfather, Don Bourne.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Debbie and Teddy Self of Spiro, Oklahoma; grandparents, Curtis and Sue Hayes of Poteau; uncle, Derrick Bourne of Cowlington, Oklahoma; sister, Melody Bourne; brothers, Joey Bourne of Spiro, Oklahoma, and TJ Self of Spiro, Oklahoma; aunts, Shirley Bell, Teresa Bryan, and Jeannie Litz; and uncles, Bob Hayes and Charles Hayes. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members, friends, coworkers, and community members who will deeply miss him.
Jonas’s life was marked by kindness, service, family, and a genuine love for the people around him. His willingness to help others, his love of the outdoors, and his warm presence will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
The Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 pm, Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Gospel Tabernacle in Poteau, Oklahoma with Pastor Carl Daniels and David Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be Brad Cook, Ethan Firestine, Kyle Dennis, Jeff Gibson, Logan Hayes and Aaron Daniels. The family of Jonas will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave. Poteau, Oklahoma 74953.
