Juanita Cox was born on April 1, 1932 in Holson Valley, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully on November 25, 2021 in Spiro, Oklahoma at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her husband Claud “Dale” Cox; her mother, Junie Lee (Gammons) Arnold; two sisters, Jimmie Morris and Pauline Williams; and one brother, Charles Wayne “Sonny” Howerton. Juanita graduated Valedictorian of her class at LeFlore high School, Leflore, OK.
She retired from Rheem Mfg. Co. at age 70. Juanita enjoyed being out and about, visiting with family and friends. She attended many ballgames with her friend, Anna Faye Boyd. She also, donated many homemade pies to fund raising events in and out of the Community, and numerous family reunions in LeFlore County. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Spiro, OK.
Survivors include daughters; Marilyn Mize and husband Leon, and Patsy Gist and husband Derwin; two sons, Roy Cox and wife Pam and Johnny Cox and wife Kathy; 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; her brother Troy “Bud” Howerton and wife Mary; numerous other relatives and loved ones.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday at the Lakeview Baptist Church with Reverend Keith Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Summerfield Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro, Oklahoma.
Viewing will be Monday, 9am-7pm with the family visiting with friends 5pm-7pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Darren Mize, BJ Clark, Terry Cox, Chad Cox, Bryon Clark, and DJ Gist.
