Julia Ann Hitt, 72, of Heavener, OK passed away on June 16, 2024. Julia was born in Tulsa, OK to Russell D. “Ike” and R. Lorraine Franklin on January 11, 1952. She grew up in Sapulpa and graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1970. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. Julia was a career Oklahoma public school teacher, who taught secondary English and Spanish and was an elementary reading specialist. She taught in the Perkins-Tryon, Sapulpa, and Jenks school districts and for 19 years at Poteau High School. She loved OSU and followed Cowboy athletics with a life-long passion. Julia was a great storyteller with a good sense of humor who loved to share memories of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Franklin. She is survived by her husband, Dr. C. Joseph Hitt; daughter Jessica and son-in-law Trent Morris; sister-in-law Jan Franklin; nieces Allison Oestreich (Tom) and Jennifer Gribble (Will); and great-nephew Collin Oestreich. Burial and graveside service will be on Friday, June 28th at 2:00 PM at Green Hill Cemetery in Sapulpa, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Julia’s name to the Oklahoma State University College of Education and Human Sciences Educating Forward Scholarship fund.
