Funeral Service for Karen Sue McKinney, 57 of Spiro, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas with Reverend Ray Copeland and Reverend Jason Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, Oklahoma under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro, Oklahoma.

 

Karen was born on March 5, 1964 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Nellie Louise (Resch) Higgins and Gene McKinley Higgins and passed away on August 3, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was married to James Dearl McKinney on June 22, 1984 in Poteau, Oklahoma. Karen was preceded in death by her infant son James Dearl McKinney, Jr. She loved fishing, spending time outdoors and all animals. Karen was a member of Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include her husband, James McKinney; daughter, Angie Hammontree and husband Bobby; sisters, Sharon Davis and husband Russell, Pam Perry and husband Joe, Debbie Perry and husband Steven; parents, Gene and Nellie Higgins; grandsons, Blake Hammontree, Brandon Hammontree, Bryan Hammontree, Chandler McKinney, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.

 

Pallbearers will be; Bobby Hammontree, Blake Hammontree, Brandon Hammontree, Bryan Hammontree Brian Seaton and Russell Davis.

 

The family will greet friends on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 6:00pm -8:00pm at the funeral home.
