Funeral Service for Kathryn Sue Dorey, 61 of will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.

Kathy Dorey passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Her kind and gentle spirit has gone to be with her dad in heaven. She has a new healthy body.

She was born on September 8, 1961 in El Reno, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Louis and Mary Sue Dorey. She is survived by her mother Mary Sue Dorey, her brother Louis Dorey, sister-in-law Susan Dorey, her nieces Kellye Dorey and Laura Egan, and her great nieces Norah and Claire.

She was a beautiful healthy baby. She had many health issues throughout her life. She met every challenge with a smile and a happy heart. She was courageous and brave. She had a wonderful sense of humor with a beautiful smile. She was a blessing to all those around her.

She had beautiful red hair that she wore long, often in a ponytail. She donated her hair for people with cancer every two or three years.

Kathy lived most of her life at home with her parents. In her later years, she lived in a residence operated by the KI BOIS charity. She lived with her best friend, Michelle, and a dedicated staff. Her mom and dad visited with her several times a week.

She loved Elvis, Alan Jackson, watching Texas Rangers, and going to the movies. She loved shopping, especially at Walmart. She also loved going to concerts. She used to go to religious singings with her parents. Her dad would play the guitar and sing.

She loved seeing her parents, family, and friends. She always wanted to hold hands and get a kiss. She always wanted to know when you would see her again. As a young girl, she loved to play with Kellye and Laura. In her later years, she loved to play with Norah and Claire.

Kathy was a blessing to all those around her. Now she is blessed to be at home with her Heavenly Father and visiting with her dad again.
