Kristopher W. Currens of Shady Point, Oklahoma, passed away in Shady Point, Oklahoma on January 9, 2026, at the age of 73. Kristopher was born on February 21, 1986, in Poteau, Oklahoma to Wayne and Cheryl Currens. Kristopher was a 2005 graduate of Poteau High School; he was a gamer and loved to play video games. He was also a Star Wars Collector and a huge OU Fan. Kristopher was preceded in death by his grandpas Johnny Wayne Currens Sr. and Harvey Cogburn, his great grandparents Dan and Mary Currens and Rosser and Vivian Dubois, and uncle Jerry Dean Currens
Kristopher is survived by his father, Wayne Currens Jr. of Poteau, Oklahoma, his mother, Cheryle McKenzie of Poteau, Oklahoma, his brother, Justin McKenzie of Poteau, Oklahoma, his sister, Myra Collins of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his grandmother, Gloria Currens of Shady Point, Oklahoma and Vonda Cogburn of Poteau, Oklahoma, his aunts Katie Sockey and husband Larry of Pocola, Oklahoma, Betty Burden of Upland, California, and Terri Cogburn, his uncles, Mark Cogburn, Joe Cogburn and Paul Dubois and wife Margaret of Cameron, Oklahoma, his nephews, Ryne Smith of Ohio, Landen McBride of Tulsa, and Keian McBride of Tulsa, along with many other relatives and loved ones.
The Celebration of Life Visitation for Kristopher will be held from 10am – 12noon on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma with a family dinner to follow in The Cedars Celebration Room.
