Larry was born to Mother Wilma Sloan and Father Gene Gregory on December 4, 1948, in Poteau, Oklahoma at his grandmother Flo’s house. Larry passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 16, 2026.
Larry was a man of Faith and a firm believer in God. Larry also very proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, working as a technician on a radar site during the Vietnam war. Larry’s two eldest children were born during his time in the military. Malisha Robertson, his eldest child, was born in Louisiana and he called her his “Louisiana Cajun Queen”. Loney Gregory, his second child, was born in Montana and he called him his “Montana Mountain Man”.
After Larry’s time in the military, he worked at Rheem Manufacturing in Fort Smith, Arkansas, which is where he stayed for 40 years as a toolmaker. Larry was a man of many hobbies and interests, including deer hunting, (where he killed more deer with a muzzleloader than anyone else), camping, and motorcycle adventures. In Larry’s younger years, he even enjoyed pilot lessons! Above all, Larry treasured his wife and family. Larry and Jessica were married for 37 wonderful years. They spent many anniversaries either camping or going on long distant motorcycle trips with their fellow Harley Davidson riding group. On the outside, Larry might not have shown it, but he had a very soft heart; especially for his daughters and granddaughters, where he was called their protector. Larry’s big heart was shown to the public at times like buying a prom dress for a young woman special to him for her special day.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Gene Gregory of Texas and Wilma Sloan of Oklahoma, his grandparents Loney Gregory and Flora Smedley, his uncles Coy Smedley, James Smedley, and Glenn Wigglesworth, and his aunt Mildred Gutuerez.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jessica Gregory of Wister Oklahoma, his daughter Malisha Robertson and husband Clint of Meeker Oklahoma, his son Loney Gregory and wife Dr. Myra of Poteau Oklahoma, his daughter Ashley Gregory of Poteau Oklahoma and his son Heath Gregory and wife Brittany of Muldrow Oklahoma, his son/nephew Donny Newby and wife Angie, his brother Doug Gregory and wife Melissa of Calhoun, Oklahoma. his 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
