Memorial Service for Larry Gene Wilson, Sr., 74 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be at 3:00pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Pocola Heights Free Will Baptist Church in Pocola, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Larry was born in 1949 in Tulare, California to Ozella Wilson and Russell Wilson and passed away on June 21, 2024 in Poteau, Oklahoma. Larry was married to Deborah Burgess in 1976 in Modesto, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, (John) Henry Wilson. Larry graduated from Excelsior High School in Whittier, California, with a scholarship as a machinist. However, his passion was in Air Compressor Repair. He excelled in his craft and became a highly sought after technician. He was a mentor to many in the Air Compressor Industry. Larry helped to shape and mold many with his knowledge, but mostly with his character and work ethic. He was passionate about everything he did, and never did anything halfway. His legacy will live on for future generations; providing their support for their families, as they use this extensive knowledge he was determined to pass on.
He served his Lord with numerous short term mission trips, bus ministry, Awana Leader, Puppeteer, and Bible Teacher. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. This world is sadder but Heaven is rejoicing. His final resting place will be in the Delano, California near his mother.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Wilson of 48 years; son, Larry Wilson, Jr. and daughter-in-law Christy Wilson; adopted daughter, Sondra Frank; grandson, Hudson Wilson; granddaughter, Onyx Wilson; great granddaughter, Ruby Wilson; brother, Russell Wilson, Jr.; sisters, Linda Candalis, and Kathy Koffroth; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and many friends.
